In enhancing relations between Brunei and Mean, the Ascan Committee on Culture and Information's (Asean COCI) "People to People Exchange Programme" visited Kampung Tamoi and Kampong Ayer last night The delegates were welcomed by Mukim Tamers penghulu, Pengarah Hj Mokti Salleh.

Tourism in Brunei has received a refreshing boost with a brand riew resort at Jalan Kota Batu. The 'Mangrove Paradise Resort' was officially opened on Oct 1 - and has proven to be a big hit.
The resort is situated on the bank of the Brunei River, quite literally above the water and intentionally built to look much like Kampong Ayer.

A Brittle wooden bridge that students use to get to a school in the water village, Kampong Ayer, is causing concern among parents and villagers.
Commenting on the condition of the bridge leading towards Pehin Dato Jamil Primary School, observers said: "It's an accident waiting to happen."
There are currently more than 400 students schooling at the primary school.

A Three-Year-Old girl was pronounced dead at a hospital yesterday after she slipped and drowned, while walking alone at a jetty in Kampong Ayer's Kg Bendahara Lama.
Dyg Fatimah Azahara Hj Mohd Azmi drowned near her residence after walking alone from her grandmother's nearby residence, according to officials.
Assistant Officer Ghapar Damong Hj Maiden from the Sg Lampai Fire and Rescue Marine Unit said a team of four fire personnel were dispatched to search for the missing girl at the area.

Two separate fatal crocodile attacks occurring almost concurrently within a week in areas upstream and downstream of a river could only mean one thing, an infestation of crocodiles in our rivers.
Telling the people to avoid the man-eating crocs in our rivers may not be good enough as a preventive measure.
There has to be some kind of CONTROL MECHANISM which monitors the population of these reptilians and their migration patterns.

Haj and Umrah travel operator Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd is planning to extend its Al Birri Wa Taqwa, (welfare and piety) charity project to districts outside of Brunei-Muara District next year.
Managing Director Hj Mahmud Hj Mohamed said that its two-day charity project, which concluded yesterday, was limited only to impoverished families in the Brunei-Muara District as it was the first time they organised such a project.
